what i'll do today

Mary Oliver once asked,
What do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

And I don't know.

I don’t know what I’ll do with my one wild and precious life, but today I’ll enjoy being alive.
I’ll open the window and feel the wind blow through.
I’ll turn off my phone and find peace in the unknown.
I’ll thank God for grace and linger a little longer after she kisses my face.
During the day I’ll sit beneath the glow of the sunshine and at night I’ll pour a little more wine.
I’ll even write a few lines that don’t rhyme.

Today, I’ll be my full self.

I’ll be me.
Today, I can only be me.
And today, like Jim Valvano once said, “There are three things everyone should do every day …
Laugh ...
Think …
And have your emotions move you to tears.”

And that’s what I’ll do today.
That’s what I’ll do with my one wild and precious life.
