For those who long to be mothers

I can't help but think of those
who feel pain on this day
(and every passing day).

Those who have waited and wondered
and wondered and waited.

Those who are still wondering
and still waiting.

Those who have cried and prayed,
"Why?"

Those who have felt pain and shame.

Those who have heard time and time again,
"It's going to be okay."

Those who have endured sleepless nights
and never-ending days.

Those who dream of the day they are called mom.

Those who are tired of feeling like something is wrong.

I can't help but think of those who feel as
though their prayers and questions
have been met with silence.

I can't help but think of those who
hurt on a day when the world celebrates.

And although I do not know your pain,
I know there is a promise that remains.

He will draw near through the fear
and His love will endure through what is heavy and unclear.

And all of this is heavy and unclear.

God, stay near.
