Patience
By now, the sun isn’t far from climbing over the horizon.
I know this because of yesterday and the day before and the day before …
Soon the darkness will be pushed to the other side of the world
where they are beginning to say goodbye to today.
And soon, just like yesterday,
my shadow will move my eyes to the sky to see the beauty of the sunlight.
The cold of night will be replaced with the warmth of a new day,
reminiscent of the words, “I forgive you.”
And today, I’ll give yesterday to the past
and let this be the present.
Whatever today brings,
whether silence or noise,
hopes or fears,
celebrations or tears,
I’ll be here.
And soon the moon will arrive,
bringing back the darkness and removing the light.
Just like yesterday and the day before and the day before …
But for now, light is on the way.
Light is always on the way.
