coffee
I’ve got stained teeth and burnt breath, but a beat that’s staying alive in my chest.
I’ve been waking up early to sit with the sunrise and watch Your beauty meet my barely open eyes.
The light breaks through, reminding me I can make it through.
And it’s the first morning sip that reminds me of grace and what I can only imagine is a smile on Your face.
And for a moment, it’s just You and me and a cup of coffee watching the waking world beginning to be.
The other morning I read,
“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed,”
and I am beginning to see I do not need to see You to believe
You are with me.
You are.
You are with me.
And it’s almost as if every sip brings us together.
And if that brings us together, we’ll never be apart.
.. .. ..
With hope,
