A Season for the Roots
A Season for the Roots
“So what’s new with you?”
“… Nothing.”
For the past few months, that’s how my conversations have been going.
I wish I had more to say.
Something more than a deflated nothing.
But I don’t.
Prayers are still waiting to be answered.
Dreams continue to knock at the door of reality.
But like the seeds beneath the ground, I am beginning to believe that even when nothing is happening, something is.
Something more is happening in the waiting.
At least, I have to believe there is.
It’s a season for the roots.
Stretching deep, strengthening below the surface, preparing for what is to come.
Hidden to my eager eyes, the foundation is being restored for more.
And I know that something more than nothing is on its way.
It may be another storm or a celebration.
It may be another mountain or a miracle.
But whatever comes my way, I’ll be stronger for it because of today.
So for now, I’ll wait.
I’ll pray.
I’ll trust good is on the way.
One of these days, I'll look back and see that I was growing all along.
And so are you.
With hope,
Tanner
