5 prayers you already know
Lately I've been writing prayers.
Prayers I’ve been saying and prayers I’ve been writing for others to say.
Sometimes I find myself thinking the prayers I write aren't good, but I think I'm the only one who thinks this.
I think He likes them.
If I’m being honest, I think He loves them, because I believe He wants to hear from us.
Even if it isn't the greatest piece of writing that's out there.
Even if it’s short or broken or clouded.
I think He loves them.
Here are five prayers you’ve probably prayed in one way or another:
God,
Help me …
Amen.
God,
Please …
Amen.
God,
Show me …
Amen.
God,
You are good …
Amen.
God,
Thank You …
Amen.
I often sit inside the waiting silence of the ellipsis for an extended period of time.
There have been times where in the morning I say help and it isn’t until I crawl in bed that I say amen.
Sometimes there are no words that come to mind and other times the silence is all that needs to be said.
He understands.
He understands it all.
And He invites us to speak to Him.
And so I will.
