You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out by Tanner Olson writtentospeak.com
I’m beginning to believe I don’t have to have it all figured out to be gentle with myself or with others.
After all, I’ll never have it all figured out and uncertainty will always be and I think that’s a good thing.
In the uncertainty I can hold fast to the joy of the unknown.
I can leave worry behind and take another step with faith and speak peace to the fear when it finds me.
These days I am finding freedom in being honest.
I can say, “I don’t know.” I can say, “I need help.” I can say, “I was wrong.” I can say, “I love you.”
And you can too. And we can even say it to one another. Everything changes when we are honest.
We do not need to have every answer to be gentle.
For it is gentleness that turns the noise of the world into an invitation to sit at the table.
A place where you can say I don’t know. A place where you can ask for help. A place where you can admit to being wrong. A place where you can say I love you.
Where the fear of the unknown once yelled, hope now sings.
And it is a beautiful song. One that I am learning as I whistle along. And I hope you’ll join me.
