even when You answer
in a way different from my way
i’ll continue to stay and say
you are the Way.
I’ve been praying for something specific
for the last few years.
Daily.
Some days hourly.
Asking God.
Begging God.
Reminding God (as if He had forgotten).
Attempting to strike deals with God like Charles Barkley does in Space Jam.
And what I have been asking for has not happened.
It’s been answered several different ways, but not the way I want it to be answered.
When I was 12, I asked my mom if I could have cookies for dinner and she gave me a baked chicken breast, broccoli, and rice.
She knew best.
She heard what I was asking for and gave me something.
She understood what I desired and gave me what I needed.
And I trust this is what God is doing, too.
I trust He is giving me what I need, not what I want.
And slowly I am beginning to see the beauty of trusting.
