This Thanksgiving
A few notes of permission (serious and not so serious) for another Thanksgiving.
This Thanksgiving …
You’re allowed to stop eating when you’re full.
You’re allowed to stay in the bathroom for another minute.
You’re allowed to change the subject.
You’re allowed to pass on the pumpkin pie.
You’re allowed to miss what was.
You’re allowed to disagree.
You’re allowed to wear a mask.
You’re allowed to say grace and say it again. And maybe one more time.
You’re allowed to wish it was fried chicken and not turkey.
You’re allowed to ask for help.
You’re allowed to take a minute to think about what you’re thankful for.
You’re allowed to say I’ve missed you.
You’re allowed to wear sweatpants.
You’re allowed to bring what will remind you of home.
You’re allowed to play Christmas music.
You’re allowed to be grateful.
You’re allowed to leave an open seat.
You’re allowed to ask for forgiveness.
You’re allowed to say I’m trying.
