picnic
After writing and deleting and writing and deleting I finally found my work to be finished.
Or as finished as a piece can be.
I sat back in my chair and wondered ... is this any good?
That shouldn't be the question I ask, but it is.
I should be asking questions like ..
Did you enjoy writing this?
Are your proud of what you have written?
It doesn’t matter if it is good or not.
I wrote.
And that’s what I wanted to do.
Here is a piece called Picnic.
Maybe it’s good.
Maybe it isn’t.
Either way, that’s okay.
We forgot the cheese.
We have to go back home.
Fold up the blanket.
Pack up the plates.
Gather the grapes.
This picnic is no longer a picnic, but a panic.
I did not pack crackers for a panic, I brought them to a picnic.
And it is not a picnic without the cheese.
Please, we must go home to get the cheese.
