Here comes the sun

Here Comes the Sun

When the sun is bright and shining I am unstoppable.
I am friendly and energetic and agreeable.
I am slow to speak and quick to love.
I am less like Jonah and more like Jesus.
I am settled and content and my blood pressure is where the doctors say it should be.
When the sun is out and the skies are blue I am happy and free and the best parts of who I was at 5 years-old.
My head is clear, heart is full, and believe it or not the sun turns me into a version of myself that is out of this world.
I can speak Spanish and French and Klingon and toddler.
I can fly and do multiplication in my head and can even spell the word definitely on the first try.
I can do 1000 push-ups, walk up the stairs without getting winded, and stop a moving train with my left hand.
I can find the best in you and me and us.
I am full of ideas and stories and jokes and joy and hope.

But if God decides to put away the sun for a few days I become someone far from who I want to be.

The darkness brings out the worst of me, someone I never want the world to see.
I am stale and sluggish and get lost in the overcast corners of my mind, stuck in a place that is far from kind.
I am trapped in the belly of a whale.
I cannot seem to think straight and definetly have trouble finishing sentenc
When the sun is lost and the skies are gray I am blue and negative and stuck in my own way.
I remember all the sins and regrets God has already forgotten.
I am quick to speak and slow to love.
And if I can make it out of bed in the morning I trip over my words, spill my coffee, and bruise my shin on the corner of the lies the sun worked to hide.
I cannot find the truth to believe or the words to write, all I’ve got to hold onto is the reminder that everything will be alright.

And just when I think I cannot go on, here comes the sun.

Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo
