Come and See

This morning we woke up to a fresh blanket of snow on the ground.

Every time I see the snow I think of the verse from Isaiah.

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

These words make me wish it snowed more, because I need this reminder on a daily basis.

Actually, I wish I just remembered this verse more without the snow.

Snow is beautiful and all, but then it turns into mud.

And that’s where my eyes tend to focus most days …

on the mud.

My eyes get caught on the past, the worry, and the anxiety.

The dirt, the shame, and the decisions I’ve made that have caused pain.

But Jesus, through his life, death, and resurrection invites from the past, the worry, and the anxiety into something more.

Into a life of hope.

Into a life of freedom.

Into a life of peace.

From the mud to the snow.

It’s as if Jesus comes to us and says,

come and see
you are forgiven
you are free

It’s just the reminder I need.

And maybe you need it, too.

With hope,

Tanner
