Another Question
Lately, a question has been rolling around my mind.
I often find myself asking this question when I feel stuck or frustrated with where I am or uncertain about the current path I’m heading down.
What’s next?
Some days I wonder if what I am doing is what I am supposed to be doing.
Does it matter?
Is it helpful?
Should I be doing something else with my life?
Is it sustainable?
Do I need to go back to school?
This question has become part of my prayers.
Not at first, but eventually I looked up and asked God. .
Sometimes I am slow to take things to God, but I am learning.
Sometimes I think I am a bother or a burden, but I’m not.
You aren’t either.
God is waiting and ready to listen.
And for as little as I know I have come to know that God knows and I don’t, but I trust Him.
Or I remind myself to trust Him when my mind begins to wonder and wander.
For years I have prayed, “God, I don’t know. Amen”, but these days I am beginning to pray, “God, I don’t know. But I know you know. You know. Amen.”
And He does.
He knows.
So, what’s next?
I don’t know.
I do not know what is next, but I do know that God’s love meets me where I am.
I do not know what is next, but I do know all of my needs will be met.
I do not know what is next, but I do know there will be grace and hope and joy.
I do not know what is next, but I do know everything will be okay.
How about that?
I guess I do know what is next.
